I had to share this video. Can you imagine this guy as President? This was more painful to watch than Palin's interview with Katie Couric as she tried to figure out what she read. As far as I can tell, he was trying to explain that he opposes gay marriage because paper towels are not napkins. Given Santorum's comments, I thought O'Donnell's analogies were brilliant; essentially stating that napkins and paper towels are interchangeable. Last week, Santorum made a similar argument: “It's like saying this glass of water is a glass of beer. Well, you can call it a glass of beer, but it's not a glass of beer. It's a glass of water. And water is what water is. Marriage is what marriage is.” Alrighty then...
By the way, have you googled Santorum yet? Just don't do it from work!

The Strange Affairs of Uncle Bruce*
Potential first couple...a crazed woman who hates gays, yet married one?!
Listen to the audio below and tell me your gaydar isn't going off the charts complete with bells and whistles, and what the heck, let's throw in gun shots just to appease Sarah Palin fans. Go ahead, tell me!!!
This audio of him speaking out against gays in a high, lisping voice has lead to a whole lot of speculation on the interwebs. The Stephanie Miller Show this week was hilarious as they played this audio and did their own impressions. Wonder where he goes to "dithipline hith barbarianths." I'm sorry, I'm cleary a gay rights supporter, but I have zero tolerance for any gay person speaking out against gay people while hiding deeply in the closet, and while picking out his wife's clothes. Seriously, I'm not making that up, he picks out her clothes. This guy is as gay as the sun is hot. Looks like some serious, internalized self-loathing by Marcus, not Mark, Marcus. Bachmann supporters are calling out other bloggers who've questioned his sexuality and effiminant mannerisms as being homophobic. I've explained the difference above. The motivation behind the animus is the Bachmann’s own hateful statements about gay people. A so-called “Christian” psychotherapist (by the way, ex-gay reparative therapy, a practice found to be fraudulent and dangerous by every single medical, psychiatric and psychological organization in the country) who uses the Bible to treat his patients, Bachmann’s attitude toward LGBT people stands in sharp contrast to what many would consider his stereotypically gay behavior. In an interview Bachmann gave last year to a syndicated Christian radio program, he compared gays to barbarians and said they need to be disciplined:
“We have to understand: Barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps. And let’s face it: what is our culture, what is our public education system doing today? They are giving full, wide-open doors to children, not only giving encouragement to think it but to encourage action steps. That’s why when we understand what truly is the percentage of homosexuals in this country, it is small. But by these open doors, I can see and we are experiencing, that it is starting to increase.”Truth Wins Out Looking For Victims of Quackmann
It's now apparent why Michele Bachmann nearly sucked George W. Bush's teeth out of his mouth after a State of the Union. I guess it's been a while!
Marcus Bachmann’s public statements are consistent with those of his wife, who represents a right-wing district of Minnesota in Congress and recently announced that she’s seeking the GOP presidential nomination. Michele Bachmann has made her opposition to equality a cornerstone of her political career. She has said that homosexuality is “from Satan” and that encouraging young people to be tolerant of gays amounts to “child abuse.” She is also estranged from her lesbian step-sister because, well, she's a lesbian. Although you have to know that she's curious about "the gay" as she was caught hiding in some bushes spying on a a pro-gay-rights rally. You can see some of her memorable moments here although it needs updating from 10/21/08. She's the founder of the congressional Tea Party caucus (or as I call them, Teabaggers). It's amazing how a bunch of crazy, rich, white politicians can convince average working people that giving more to the well-to-do while slashing programs that benefit them is salubrious. Bachmann has also made her opposition to government spending a key issue in her public life. However, she’s come under fire in recently for hypocrisy on that front amid revelations that she and Marcuth accepted money from both the federal and state government for a farm subsidy ($260,000) and that Quackmann's "clinic" accepted $30,000 from Medicaid. Hypocrisy?
We’ve watched one married fundamentalist Christian "family values" man after another caught up in a same-sex extramarital scandal. There seems to be a pattern, a right-winger's level of animus toward gay people has become an indicator of how much he's trying to hide about his private life. I've got the popcorn ready. I have no doubt this is going to explode. Somewhere, Anthony Weiner is smiling.
*Uncle Bruce definition from Urban Dictionary - a closeted gay man who betrays his own people.

Palin's Version of Revere's Ride Re-Enacted by Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert proves that Paul Revere could have ridden a horse while ringing a bell and firing multiple warning shots from a front-loading musket. I was laughing so hard I started to cry. A brilliant, hilarious skit that I recommend to all!

Palin Fans Spent Weekend Trying To Rewrite Revere's Ride on Wikipedia
A few days ago, Sarah Palin told a news station in Boston that Paul Revere "warned the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms." As the media pointed out that Revere was actually warning the American colonists (which also isn't totally accurate, because as I pointed out Friday, he was to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were coming to arrest them), not the British, Palin's supporters instead attempted to update the Wikipedia entry on Revere in order to make the facts conform to Palin's version of history. According to the revision history on the Wikipedia page, Palin supporters attempted to add this line (among others): "also, most colonial residents at the time considered themselves British as they were all legally British subjects." By the way, Revere did not shout the phrase later attributed to him ("The British are coming!"), largely because the mission depended on secrecy. I'll at least give the reporters credit for reporting what we were taught back in the day...her, not so much.
That revision was deleted with the explanation "content not backed by a reliable sources (it was sarah palin interview videos)." On Sunday, Palin, a paid Faux Newz employee, insisted on "Faux Newz Sunday" that she was correct, with no dissent from the enamored host, who I also spoke of yesterday. She says there were British soldiers in the area for years before Revere's legendary ride, and that he was warning them, as well as his fellow colonists. "Part of his ride was to warn the British that were already there that 'hey, you're not going to take American arms, you are not going to beat our own well-armed persons individual private militia that we have.'" Here's a big surprise ---She blamed her previous answer on the media, saying it was a "gotcha question."
Thank you to Little Green Footballs for once again exposing this crackpot for what she is. A clueless, narcissistic, sociopath and media w***e. It is actually frightening to watch the levels her followers will go to to make her look like she's correct. What does that say about us? What does that say about our future? Look at Texas rewriting history in text books. They've removed Thomas Jefferson because he backed church-state separation! They've dropped references to slave trade! Laugh if you will, but as Joe Biden would say, "This is a big f*****g deal." People need to understand that based on sheer numbers, Texas and California purchase the largest amount of textbooks, so they get what they want. These revisionist text books will make their way to the northeast and to the west coast. What will our history look like in 50 years? The fact that our "history" teaching is up for grabs should scare people. People like Palin emphasize how dangerous this is. This is not a good thing, not good at all.

Wallace and Palin Sittin in a tree...
Sunday is always a great day for a game of softball! Thanks for pitching Chris. This morning on Faux Newz, Chris Wallace couldn't stop gushing about Palin's "Boffo" interview. Honestly, why doesn't he just ask Palin to (insert thought here) him get it over with? You know he wants to. There is no depth to this woman yet they keep building her up to be something she's not. And you also know that his father, Mike Wallace is rolling over in his grave watching what his son has become. Watch Chrissy allow the abominable snowbitch to double down on her stupidity.
In the midst of her supposedly non-campaign bus tour of America (where she trampled on Mitt Romney's presidential bid announcement in New Hampshire, driving through the western Massachusetts tornado to get there in time), Faux Newz Sunday host Chris Wallace let Sarah Palin continue to babble through the network, with an "exclusive" half-hour long interview. Not sure why Faux declares it as exclusive since she won't talk to any other network. However, Wallace wasn't content to promote Palin simply by handing her Sunday program, he began an all-day Palin-cheerleading session by declaring in the second half of his show that her performance was "boffo." He went on to add that she was "sharp on the issues" and that she has "a serious possibility to be president." If indeed he's correct and she has a serious chance of becoming president, be afraid, be very afraid.
After his show, Wallace appeared on Faux Newz and said that in that interview, "I think you see Sarah Palin the way people never quite have before. She talks in great depth and I think with a good deal of expertise about the economy, about the debt, about Paul Ryan's Medicare plan, about our involvement in Afghanistan." What the hell is he smoking? This woman couldn't make change at McDonald's with the cash register showing her the exact change due to the customer. The debt? Ask Alaskans about her expertise. Oh, and how she managed to slide materials for her new house into the budget of the new arena that was built. A taxpayer funded house! Ayn Rand Ryan's Medicare Plan? Ask those of us under 55 who were basically told, "go to hell." Not only have we paid into it our whole lives, if this draconian bill passes, we'll still get to pay into it without any benefit! Isn't Republicanism ****ing awesome?! Apparently Republicans are banking on the fact that many voters are over 55, and are hoping they don't care about their younger family members so they can pull this off. Oops. Afghanistan? Yes, I want words of wisdom on military intervention form a woman who thought North Korea was an ally.
Later Wallace again appeared on Faux Newz America's Newz HQ and told host Shannon Bream: "I have never seen her as impressive and specific on the issues as she was, whether it was the debt or the state of the economy or what the situation is on the ground in Afghanistan" Of course, Wallace's praise for his Faux Newz colleague, while creepy, isn't surprising. Faux is, after all, the friendliest place in the universe for her. But his assessment of her as a serious contender for president in 2012 only strengthens the case that Faux is an unethical network by continuing to employ her as a contributor. Not that ethics mean a whole heck of a lot to the television media wing of the Teapublican propaganda machine.
Still, let's be fair, Palin's interview was even more impressive than the time that Paul Revere rang the bells of Westminster Abbey to warn the British that the Minutemen were coming.

As Keith Olbermann Would Say, This Woman...Is An Idiot
“He who warned uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”
For those who wonder what was wrong with this idiotic statement, I first ask if your school taught history, and then wonder did you go to school. Paul Revere’s historic ride occurred in 1775, the constitutional convention did not even convene until 1787. And "ringing those bells" and "warning shots"...really? Where the hell did she get that? Nevermind, it's Palinese, who knows. On the evening of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere was sent for by Dr. Joseph Warren and instructed to ride to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching to arrest them. Revere wasn’t ringing bells or firing shots into the air. He had to quietly deliver the message that the regulars were coming to arrest them. And he had the assistance of nearly 40 riders spreading the message of the movement of the British army, and preparing the patriots to fight.
The Real Story of Revere's Ride
As stupid as I think this woman is, and I really think she's stupid with a capital "S', what scares me even more are her followers. The dumber she is, the more they love her! Also, is it just me...and I doubt it is, her voice is in Edith Bunker territory to start with, but when she starts using voice influctions, don't you just want to stick screwdrivers through your ears? Seriously, when snowbilly grifter was talking about Paul Revere, all the dogs within 15 miles had their paws over their ears.
And a sidenote to Michele Bachmann who also spent some time in Concord, New Hampshire recently and proclaimed, "This is where the shots heard 'round the world were fired." Not so much. One of the reasons Paul Revere is famous today is also because of the battles of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. He played an important role as he helped to organize an intelligence and alarm system that was designed to keep watch over the British forces and warn Americans of threats so that they could be prepared.

Tina Fey Reprises Role as Palin on 'SNL' With Mock Republican Debate
Tina Fey reprised her role as Sarah Palin for an RNC debate with the potential candidates that did not attend Fox News’ actual debate last week, also known as the "Who's who of: Who?" Also making an appearance were other potential Republican candidates who have not officially announced. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was played by Jason Sudeikis and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich was played by Bobby Moynihan. Darrell Hammond returned to SNL to play Donald Trump. I got a chuckle out of it, I hope you do too.

This Is What Compassionate Christians Concoct on Easter Sunday
Happy Easter to all the sane people out here! Is this something that we now consider acceptable? Is this not pushing the limits of free speech? How can this not be equated with yelling fire in a crowded theater? Here's an example of right wing "intelligence" ... or something ... on this fine Easter day. A friend on Facebook passed it along and encouraged everyone to report it, which I did since I agree. If anyone on the left posted something like this about Bush or Palin, they'd already be in shackles. I am posting this, not to give them publicity, but to prove what was on Facebook because this will be coming down and Fox News and Rush Limbaugh will deny it ever existed. I'd hate to be the asshat who posted this because from what some sources are reporting, the secret service is working on getting it taken down and it is being investigated.

Ferraro's Legacy vs Palin's Celebrity
August 26, 1935-March 26, 2011
U.S. political icon Geraldine Ferraro, the first female vice presidential candidate to run on a major political ticket, has died at age 75 after a long battle with cancer, her family said Saturday. Ferraro made history when Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale pick her to be his running mate in the 1984, in an election that president Ronald Reagan, a Republican running for re-election, unfortunately won. Her family released a statement saying Ferraro "was widely known as a leader, a fighter for justice, and a tireless advocate for those without a voice," "Her courage and generosity of spirit throughout her life waging battles big and small, public and personal, will never be forgotten and will be sorely missed."
According to Wikipedia:
While in Congress, Ferraro focused much of her legislative attention on equity for women in the areas of wages, pensions, and retirement plans. She was a co-sponsor of the 1981 Economic Equity Act On the House Select Committee on Aging, where she concentrated on the problems of elderly women. In 1984, she championed a pension equity law revision that would improve the benefits of people who left work for long periods of time and then returned, a typical case for women with families.
While Ferraro's pro-choice views conflicted with those of many of her constituents as well as the Catholic Church to which she belonged, her positions on other social and foreign policy issues were in alignment with the district.
For her six years in Congress, Ferraro had an average 78 percent "Liberal Quotient" from Americans for Democratic Action and an average 8 percent rating from the American Conservative Union (woohoo). The AFL-CIO's Committee on Political Education gave her an average approval rating of 91 percent.
On now onto someone who's not even good enough to be considered the other side of the coin. Here's a view from "main street" in India on Sarah Palin and her recent visit to their country. Most weren't impressed. The one guy who "heard she's really smart" made me laugh...a young guy...go figure! Here's the thing that is somewhat worrisome. She is masquerading around the world as an American diplomat. She's an embarrassment to this country and should be treated as such. No wonder the rest of the world looks at us as idiots. Bush got a second term and this bimbo's running around the globe talking out of her ass. I do wonder who is paying for this trip, because you know she's not. The Palin's are frauds.

There's Not a President #46 in This Group
Here's some of the brilliance we witnessed this week from the right wing. These are the "stars" of the party. How can anyone in their "correct" mind vote for any of these narcissistic crackpots? While I still think they're going to roll out Jeb Bush when they get serious, this is the lot we've seen so far. I have some great friends who I adore, who think the country isn't dumb enough to vote for another Bush. They are such hopeful people --- always seeing the glass half full. Bless their hearts. They forget that we live in a country where people stand in front of a microwave oven screaming, "HURRY!" Me on the other hand? The glass fell over. You can never underestimate the stupidity of the American people.
Just sayin...
Newt for President!

It Was a Wild Weekend!
Here's a few items that caught my eye today...
In an interview with India Today's Editor-in-Chief, Aroon Purie, on Saturday, Politico reports that Palin suggested then-candidate Barack Obama effectively executed his campaign message as running on the platform of "change." After it was pointed out to the serial quitter that she too could have constructed her public image in a similar way, she replied, "I wasn't at the top of the ticket, remember?"
ZING!!! - Take that John McCain and by the way, thanks again for unleashing the Abominable Snowbitch on the other 49 states.
In another cut designed to eradicate the poor, the GOP's 2011 budget would chop $156 million from the Centers for Disease Control's funding for immunization and respiratory diseases. The GOP reductions will hit the CDC's support for state and local immunization programs, the agency's ability to evaluate which vaccines are working, and its work to educate the public about recommended vaccines for children, teenagers, and other susceptible populations. The CDC especially focuses on serving lower-income families who receive vaccines at state and local health offices and community health clinics, rather than a private doctor's office.
How is it this party has hijacked and effectively sold terms like "real" America, compassion, values, etc... to millions of people? These people have none of that. AND Jesus was a liberal. He believed in social justice, helping the poor, taking care of the sick and preached that rich men would not go to heaven --- I'm just sayin'...
With the Libya strike to knock out Gaddafi's surface to air ability Saturday, the Republicans didn't have time to get together to get their stories straight on the line of attack. The party that just LOVES military aggression as long as a white Republican is making the decisions are all of a sudden confused. Heck, they love military might, but they hate the idea of backing the exotic dark guy. So many of them pulled out the tried and true right wing playbook...code words with mixed messages. He dithered, he didn't try negotiation long enough, he looks weak, he looks like a bully, he should conduct business as usual, he's on vacation (he's not), etc... No matter what he does, they attack, whether they agree or not. The Republicans care nothing about the country, they're power hungry animals playing politics 24/7. Maybe they want us to to forget this little gem that Senator McCain uttered in 2009:
John McCain Praises Libyan Leader Gaddafi
On a personal level, I'm uneasy about this latest U.S. military action. However, I think trying to stop a dictator from performing genocide on civilians is at least moral thinking. That said, given our already senseless involvement in other middle east countries, I don't see how this ends well for us.
When Florida Governor Rick Scott took to the mound on Saturday at a pre-season game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays, many in the crowd made clear they were no fans of the Republican lawmaker.
When a state votes for someone with his record, their collective IQ really must be questioned. Scott "was forced to resign as the head of Columbia/HCA, a health care company, that pled guilty to massive amounts of systematic fraud, including 14 felonies, leading to a historic $1.7 billion fine." He only won the governorship by a paltry 1.2%, but he's behaving as though he has a mandate, all these new Republican governors are. I think the strategy is, they know their radical agenda won't get them re-elected, but they'll do as much damage as possible meanwhile. They'll then move on to lucrative lobbying jobs.
In brighter Florida baseball news...Rays manager Joe Maddon summoned security to remove a fan – wearing an Orioles jersey – who he said was yelling racist comments at CF B.J. Upton in the dugout during Sunday’s game at Charlotte Sports Park. “He said something racial and I didn’t like it,’’ Maddon said. “He can say whatever he wants, but don’t go there. And I didn’t want B.J. to go up into the stands or do anything at that point. So I just wanted to make sure he was taken out of there. There is no room for that at all.’’ Very nice Joe. That's the way to handle these buffoons. Although Rush Limpballs probably went on a rant today as to how this action infringed on the racist loudmouth's First Amendment Rights. birds-of-a-feather, y'know...

GOP Pushing For IRS Abortion Audits - Seriously
The GOP war on women is getting worse everyday. We now have a bill, that could subject survivors of rape and incest to audits by the Internal Revenue Service, if they choose abortion. Here's how this attack on women would work. The bill, H.R.3, could forbid using tax benefits -- like credits or deductions -- to pay for abortion or health insurance that includes abortion coverage. If a woman who claimed a tax benefit for an abortion service were to be audited, she would have to provide proof that her abortion fell under the rape or incest exception. According to a tax expert, if this bill becomes law, the IRS would have to enforce it. NARAL Pro-Choice America says, "Not only would a woman have to describe her sexual assault to the police, but she could then be forced to relive that horrifying experience with an agent from the IRS." Even more outrageously, the burden of proof would be on the woman to show that her assault was valid. Keep your receipts ladies.
This nonsense gets more outrageous and insulting by the day. Why has a legal medical procedure become fodder in a country that is supposed to separate church and state? Why is there not an outcry across this nation by self-respecting women and progressive men? Are we really that Foxed up? Here's another idea to go hand-in-hand. Every man who uses Viagra or any other ED medication must submit a sample to be stored in a bank for identification. If it is determined that the sample was likely involved in an unintended pregnancy, he would have to prove that he used all precautions necessary to prevent that pregnancy. If he can not prove he used all necessary precautions, any and all tax refunds for the next 18 years go to Planned Parenthood. How does that sound guys?
I have to say, I'm extremely distressed that women like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann who believe in subservience have become icons to many women in this country. They are taking us back to the Phyllis Schlafly time machine where women did what the male controlled society expected them to do. It's a very scary time for young women in this country. I just can't get my head around the notion of looking up to these women who think that looking good for the "men-folk" is good enough to get them by. Why are women like Hillary Clinton, Rachel Maddow, Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman Schultz mocked as less than ideal women? They are actual success stories! I remember when Palin first burst on the scene and watching how some guys were looking at her, talking about her; while they were picturing her as the "dirty librarian who's going to give him a spanking." Meanwhile, conservative women bought the great mom/successful career woman spiel, never mind that her teenage daughter got knocked up under her own roof. These people vote! They couldn't care less that their so-called attractive (very subjective) female and just-like-me (maybe as stupid, not wealth) candidates can't tell the difference between North and South Korea or New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The men care about watching them on the TV machine and fantasizing about what they would do to them if they got them alone and the women think about having coffee and discussing the kids.

Is Bachmann Smarter Than a 5th Grader?
OH...MY...GOD! Does the GOP really think Michele Bachmann is a credible candidate? Really, do they? A few weeks ago she mentioned how our slave owning founders worked tirelessly to end slavery (they were dead for decades before it happened), but get this --- Today she told NH 'baggers that New Hampshire is the state where "the shot was heard around the world." and the where Pilgrims landed - Plymouth Rock!
Hey Michele, I know all those teeny weeny itsy bitsy little states in New England seem the same to you, but uh .. it was MASSACHUSETTS where those things happened. There's 13 miles of coastline in New Hampshire. Are you and Sarah Palin sharing a map? When that idiot visited NH, she said it was great to be in the "Great Northwest." Palin in NH
These are the women the Republican Party looks to as intelligent leaders. Yikes!
“What I love about New Hampshire and what we have in common is our extreme love for liberty,” the potential GOP presidential candidate said. “You’re the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord. And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors the very first price that had to be paid to make this the most magnificent nation that has ever arisen in the annals of man in 5,000 years of recorded history.” [...]More from: Think Progress
“I’m thankful that you are the first in the nation state because you are the liberty state,” Bachmann said. “That is your charge. You keep that baton of liberty. You’ve done it very well for almost 20 generations from the time the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and I’m sure the very first one came up to New Hampshire and said, ‘This is where I want to be.’”

In Case You Missed Todays Right Wingnuttery
Texas state Rep. Tan Parker (R-Flower Mound) has proposed a bill to ban almost all abortions unless there is a substantial risk to the woman's life or a major body function. No exemptions for rape, incest or mental health. Once again dragging womens rights backwards. How can any woman vote for men taking their basic rights away? Mother Jones
NH GOP Senator Martin Harty told Sharon Omand, a Strafford resident who manages a community mental health program, that the disabled and mentally ill are ‘defective people’ that should be shipped off to Siberia. Harty said nature has a way of “getting rid of stupid people." Hopefully that means Republicans/Conservatives will become extinct.

In Sarah Palin's Alaska, five members and associates of a Fairbanks, Alaska, right-wing militia group were arrested yesterday for allegedly plotting to kidnap or kill Alaska State Troopers and a Fairbanks judge. So how much coverage do you think this will get? I'm guessing none. Faux Newz definitely won't touch it, and with the possible exception of MSNBC, I'll bet the rest don't bite either. However, they were all over the edited ACORN, Shirley Sherrod, Planned Parenthood and NPR videos. Liberal media my ass. Anchorage Press.
White supremist, Kevin William Harpham, a former member of the US Army who was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA between 1996-1999 was arrested Wednesday and charged with planting a backpack bomb along the route of a Spokane, WA Martin Luther King Day parade in January. Evidently, he was a fan of Timothy McVeigh. There are reports on Harpham's apparent postings on the anti-semitic Vanguard News and that he is a member of the neo-Nazi National Alliance although they deny he is currently a member. Faux Newz won't be covering this one either. Seattle Times
Rush Limbaugh wondered if environmentalists will "cheer" the earthquake in Japan, since the quake and subsequent tsunami hit the region of the country that thrives on car manufacturing. This fat bastard should be removed from the air. The only group that ever cheers disasters are right wing douche bags like him. How can anyone listen to this creepy Archie Bunker look-alike? Those Darn Gotcha Teachers!
Look at the look on Sarah Paylin's face when Kathleen Gustafson tells Mama Grizzly (aka Worst Governor Ever) that she's a teacher, compared to the way she lights up upon hearing that the lady is married to a fisherman. Meanwhile we see abstinence only Bristol standing there snidely, arms crossed, chewing gum and muttering things. Todd briefly tries to cut off the cameras view while his lipstick wearing pitbull gets confronted. This family makes the Beverly Hillbillies look like they have class. See Sarah, this is why you must stay in the safety zone at Fox where none of those crazy constituents can actually ask you a question.
From Alaska native Shannyn Moore: "Kathleen Gustafson is a teacher married to a local commercial fisherman. She felt like Sarah Palin had let the state down by becoming a dollar-chasing celebrity and ignoring the oath of office she'd sworn on a Bible. Kathleen was motivated by the fact Palin was using the very place where her family makes a living to fortify the Palin personality cult -- pretending to do the very thing they worked so hard to sustain. Initially, Kathleen just wanted to waste a little of the camera crew's time, since Palin wasted so much of her time purporting to represent Alaska's interests. She didn't imagine Palin would be so easy to draw out."

Palin Claims She Knows How to Stop the Leak
So there you have it --- Sarah's alternate reality. Her Fox association has taught her well. Just lie, say it over and over and assume that other networks will pick up the lies and report them as fact. It worked when they destroyed ACORN, so their boldness and deception goes full speed ahead.
- …On the June 15 edition of Fox News’ Fox & Friends, Glenn Beck said that Obama “needs to explain why we haven’t — why we turned down all the international help. They offered it within a couple of days. We said no…”
- …In a later segment on the June 15 Fox & Friends, co-host Gretchen Carlson hosted Sen. George LeMieux (R-FL) and stated: “Steve Doocy asked [White House press secretary Robert Gibbs] why the Jones Act has not been waived, allowing international ships to come into the Gulf.” LeMieux later responded, in part, “The Jones Act shouldn’t be preventing any foreign ships from coming to help in the skimming operations.”
- …Later on Fox & Friends, Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham stated that one of the “things the president needs to talk about and needs to do” is to “waive the Jones Act” so that “all of our technology, all of our manpower, all the skimmers internationally” could reach the Gulf. Ingraham did not note that there are already international ships in the Gulf responding to the spill.
- …In a June 15 press release, the Deepwater Horizon Incident Joint Information Center stated that “currently, 15 foreign-flagged vessels are involved in the largest response to an oil spill in U.S. history.” The JIC further explained, “No Jones Act waivers have been granted because none of these vessels have required such a waiver to conduct their operations in the Gulf of Mexico.” To date, the administration has leveraged assets and skills from numerous foreign countries and international organizations as part of this historic, all-hands-on-deck response, including Canada, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, the United Nations’ International Maritime Organization and the European Union’s Monitoring and Information Centre. In some cases, offers of international assistance have been turned down because the offer didn’t fit the needs of the response.

So You Think You Can Dance? Rand Paul Does It Better!
Rand Paul won a decisive victory Tuesday night in Kentucky for the right to run in November as the next Republican senator from that state. Unfortunately for him, he blew a tire on his victory lap. He went on NPR radio to discuss how he's "troubled" by certain parts of the Civil Rights Act...no worries, just the one where it says you can not discriminate! Then on the very same evening goes on The Rachel Maddow Show and seemed surprised that she wanted clarification of his stated position. It was also enlightening to find out that he's against The Americans With Disabilities Act! As I was watching TRMS, I thought an episode of "So You Think You Can Dance" broke into the coverage as he spent 20 minutes dancing around Rachel's basic question which was essentially, "What exactly did you mean?" His positions may play very well in Kentucky, but not nationally.
How do you equate having to serve a black person with having to serve someone carrying a loaded firearm. Um, call me crazy, but it seems to me that you can choose to carry a weapon, you can't change the color of your skin. Congratulations teabaggers, you've found a male Sarah Palin...maybe a bit more polished, but just as clueless. Originally I had pinned that label on Scott Brown, but this guy makes him look like Abraham Lincoln.
One more thing: He also stated that segregation in Boston ended in 1840? Really? Weren't there riots in the mid 70's? Busing issues? One thing I noticed even as a child was that the Red Sox and Celtics were always the whitest team on the field and on the court. This famous Boston Herald photo looks pretty 1970's to me!

Been Flirtin' With Disaster
In a nutshell, they drilled, it spilled and now a lot of wildlife will be killed. It has come to light that BP downplayed the possibility of a catastrophic accident at an offshore rig that exploded, causing the worst U.S. spill in decades along the Gulf coast and endangering shoreline habitat, documents suggest. BP repeatedly said it was virtually impossible for an accident to occur that would lead to a giant crude oil spill and serious damage to beaches, fish, mammals and fisheries.
Can we begin to connect the dots? Will we learn anything from these crisis? In Washington we have the spectacle of a deregulated Wall Street spinning wildly out of control and bringing the world economy to the brink. In West Virgina we have a mining company, Massey Energy who thumbs its nose at safety violations resulting in over 100 miner's death. In the gulf coast we have a massive oil rig spewing out oil and threatening several southern states with no end in sight.
What they all have in common is this: In the deregulated world of the unfettered free market with little government regulations, disasters are bound to happen. Why? Because every company works endlessly to do two things; increase profits and reduce costs. In reducing costs to meet investor demands they forego safety procedures, they defer maintenance, they buy cheaper shoddier equipment and if there is no entity holding your feet to the fire you'll do it until what you do creates a disaster. The government that governs least, we are now learning, courts disaster for the nation. What's really weird in the twisted irony is that these Republican loving southern states that will be damaged for decades have actually jeopardized their own livelihood by supporting the party of greed. Innocent wetlands, wildlife, and Gulf fishermen's own livelihood have been discarded in this "free market." Wake up America! I'm mostly talking to you red staters.
Environmental lawyer Michael Papantonio joined Ed Schultz and explained how this disaster could've been minimized. It turns out every country in the world who allow oil exploration require a fail safe system called the Acoustic Switch System that will immediately lock down a well in an emergency such as this one. The cost is $500K per ASS. However in our free market land of no oversight or regulation, the U.S. doesn't require them and since BP (and the others I'm sure) decided the almighty dollar outweighs the risk, we have a mega-disaster on our hands.
The always idiotic Rush Limbaugh who is always quick to side with those with the most including corporations is claiming that the disaster might have been caused by environmental activists protesting Obama's expansion of off shore oil drilling. Seriously? It will be those very environmentalists cleaning oil off of birds and beavers or any other animal that can be saved. He also proudly proclaimed that this disaster would be Obama's Katrina. The truth of the matter is that the Coast Guard was on the scene almost immediately after this accident. The deputy secretary of the interior was on the ground the next day, and the administration's been coordinating closely with the local authorities and BP from the very beginning. Just last year Limpy actually said "Nature cleaned up itself" after Exxon Valdez oil spill. What a bunch of bullshit. The area still has remnants of the disaster partially because St. Ronnie let Exxon off the hook. How can anyone listen to this piece of chit?
Then there's the immense silence of the "Drill, baby drill - drill now" crowd. Excluding Sarah Palin's tweet that her prayers are with those who will be affected...instead of doing something that will actually be useful. Why doesn't she at least start a fund with some of that $12 million she bilked from her fans? Michael Steele? Rudy Guiliani? We can't hear you! Every asshole who ever chanted 'Drill baby drill' should have to report to the Gulf coast today for cleanup duty.

SNL and Tina Fey bring us "The Sarah Palin Network"
The only good thing about Sarah Palin's love of being in the spotlight is that it keeps Tina Fey returning to "Saturday Night Live." This is too good to be missed.
Quick Thoughts: Not happy with various rumors about who Obama may replace liberal outgoing Justice Stevens with. Every article I read says he doesn't want the fight and will pick a conservative. Two possible replacements, Judge Merrick Garland of the federal appeals court in the District of Columbia, and Solicitor General Elena Kagan seem to be front-runners. If this turns out to be true, what's the sense of having a Democratic President? These appointments are for life! I'm not expecting a super-liberal, but I want someone left leaning. In my opinion, the Supreme Court picks are a large part of any president's legacy. For all the complaining he did, even during his State of the Union speech about SCOTUS 5-4 ruling allowing unlimited corporate spending in campaigns, you'd think he'd be looking left. Maybe he'll surprise us, but he's kicked the more liberal part of his base in the teeth every chance he's gotten so far...single-payer was never considered, he took the public option off the table by claiming it wasn't essential, 30K more troops sent to Afghanistan, even though most General's agree that the time is now to remove DADT, he decided on a one year study to decide if homophobic rednecks with really big guns can handle knowing that they might be serving with someone who's got "the gay!" Obama is still better than what our other option was, but he's been a disappointment in a lot of ways...
I would love an honest explanation of what kind of thought process MSNBC President Phil Griffin uses on a day to day basis. This week, David Schuster was suspended indefinitely for shooting a pilot for a possible new CNN show. Griffin was well within his right to do that to Schuster who has a no compete contract with MSNBC. However, their rift began a few months ago when Schuster "tweeted" his opinion about conservative punk, Faux Newz "confibutor" James O'Keefe breaking into senator Mary Landrieu's office. His role has been diminishing on the network ever since. Apparently Schuster felt he had no future at the network and took a stupid risk. Now for my issue; why is it that Schuster was reprimanded for the O'Keefe situation, but last week on Chris Matthews' Hardball, Pat Buchanan was allowed to spew white supremist, pro-confederacy rhetoric, talking over Karen Finney throughout? Buchanan behaves and speaks like that on a regular basis. Rachel Maddow had it out with him on the air last year when he spouted a bunch of racist nonsense and he hasn't appeared on her show since; likewise he hasn't been on Keith Olbermann's Countdown either. However, Joe Scarborough, Matthews and Griffin seem to be just fine with nasty Pat...
Finally, I rented Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" and give it two thumbs up. There are even segment's that conservatives will appreciate, excluding blind ideologues. I know Moore is a lightning rod, and I understand why, but the very fact the he (a wealthy man himself) consistently upsets the apple cart of the rich and powerful is enough reason to at least consider what he's saying.

Bachmann-Palin Overdrive 2010 Tour
Takin' Care of Business Redux 2010 (by Captain - Portside Politics)
You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Wake at 6:15 with some pity
Look for big brother above
Sarah pushin', Michele shovin'
Two mean girls who try to look pretty
And if their brain's were fine
You could put aside the whine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Remember Fox keeps them employed
They love to watch you work for nothing all day
And they'll be...
Making stupid comments every day
Making hateful comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!
If it were easy as bitchin'
You could be a politician
If you could make sounds loud or hollow
Get a fancy foreign car
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of sellouts
If they see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
They'll assume it's the socialist way
It's reality that they avoid
They're just a couple hemmoroids
They prefer to watch you work for nothing all day
And they'll be...
Making hateful comments every day
Making lying comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!
(Spoken) Making hateful comments
When their awake, every day whoo!
You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Wake at 6:15 with some pity
Look for big brother above
Sarah pushin', Michele shovin'
Two mean girls who try to look pretty
And if their brain's were fine
You could put aside the whine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Remember Fox keeps them employed
They love to watch you work for nothing all day
And they'll be...
Making stupid comments every day
Making hateful comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!
If it were easy as bitchin'
You could be a politician
If you could make sounds loud or hollow
Get a fancy foreign car
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of sellouts
If they see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
They'll assume it's the socialist way
It's reality that they avoid
They're just a couple hemmoroids
They prefer to watch you work for nothing all day
And they'll be...
Making hateful comments every day
Making lying comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!
