Yee Haw! It's Official, Rick Perry is In!

Because eight years of another clueless Texas governor wasn't quite enough, here comes Rick! He thinks it's time to get Americans working again...at slave wages, but still, he thinks he's a job creator. The man who implied that Texas has a right to secede the union actually wants to lead the union. Seems a bit awkward to me, but there's no shame coming from Texas. This seems to make him an immediate favorite, but we haven't seen him on the national stage so time will tell. He is an immediate threat to Michele Bachmann's Evangelical voters though. He is among the top political fund-raisers in the country, with a vast network of wealthy supporters eager to bankroll his presidential ambitions. Only Mitt Romney is in his league. It's on folks!

Opening a Door to a Closet Full of Skeletons

As gaydar all across the country is blowing off the charts since we all got a glimpse of Marcus Bachmann, then even better, heard him speak, comedians and even some evening hosts have had some fun. Here's an amusing youtube video from The Second City Network taking advantage of this gift from the comedy Gods!

The Strange Affairs of Uncle Bruce*

Potential first couple...a crazed woman who hates gays, yet married one?!

Listen to the audio below and tell me your gaydar isn't going off the charts complete with bells and whistles, and what the heck, let's throw in gun shots just to appease Sarah Palin fans. Go ahead, tell me!!!

This audio of him speaking out against gays in a high, lisping voice has lead to a whole lot of speculation on the interwebs. The Stephanie Miller Show this week was hilarious as they played this audio and did their own impressions. Wonder where he goes to "dithipline hith barbarianths." I'm sorry, I'm cleary a gay rights supporter, but I have zero tolerance for any gay person speaking out against gay people while hiding deeply in the closet, and while picking out his wife's clothes. Seriously, I'm not making that up, he picks out her clothes. This guy is as gay as the sun is hot. Looks like some serious, internalized self-loathing by Marcus, not Mark, Marcus. Bachmann supporters are calling out other bloggers who've questioned his sexuality and effiminant mannerisms as being homophobic. I've explained the difference above. The motivation behind the animus is the Bachmann’s own hateful statements about gay people. A so-called “Christian” psychotherapist (by the way, ex-gay reparative therapy, a practice found to be fraudulent and dangerous by every single medical, psychiatric and psychological organization in the country) who uses the Bible to treat his patients, Bachmann’s attitude toward LGBT people stands in sharp contrast to what many would consider his stereotypically gay behavior. In an interview Bachmann gave last year to a syndicated Christian radio program, he compared gays to barbarians and said they need to be disciplined:
“We have to understand: Barbarians need to be educated. They need to be disciplined. Just because someone feels it or thinks it doesn’t mean that we are supposed to go down that road. That’s what is called the sinful nature. We have a responsibility as parents and as authority figures not to encourage such thoughts and feelings from moving into the action steps. And let’s face it: what is our culture, what is our public education system doing today? They are giving full, wide-open doors to children, not only giving encouragement to think it but to encourage action steps. That’s why when we understand what truly is the percentage of homosexuals in this country, it is small. But by these open doors, I can see and we are experiencing, that it is starting to increase.”
Truth Wins Out Looking For Victims of Quackmann

It's now apparent why Michele Bachmann nearly sucked George W. Bush's teeth out of his mouth after a State of the Union. I guess it's been a while!

Marcus Bachmann’s public statements are consistent with those of his wife, who represents a right-wing district of Minnesota in Congress and recently announced that she’s seeking the GOP presidential nomination. Michele Bachmann has made her opposition to equality a cornerstone of her political career. She has said that homosexuality is “from Satan” and that encouraging young people to be tolerant of gays amounts to “child abuse.” She is also estranged from her lesbian step-sister because, well, she's a lesbian. Although you have to know that she's curious about "the gay" as she was caught hiding in some bushes spying on a a pro-gay-rights rally. You can see some of her memorable moments here although it needs updating from 10/21/08. She's the founder of the congressional Tea Party caucus (or as I call them, Teabaggers). It's amazing how a bunch of crazy, rich, white politicians can convince average working people that giving more to the well-to-do while slashing programs that benefit them is salubrious. Bachmann has also made her opposition to government spending a key issue in her public life. However, she’s come under fire in recently for hypocrisy on that front amid revelations that she and Marcuth accepted money from both the federal and state government for a farm subsidy ($260,000) and that Quackmann's "clinic" accepted $30,000 from Medicaid. Hypocrisy?

We’ve watched one married fundamentalist Christian "family values" man after another caught up in a same-sex extramarital scandal. There seems to be a pattern, a right-winger's level of animus toward gay people has become an indicator of how much he's trying to hide about his private life. I've got the popcorn ready. I have no doubt this is going to explode. Somewhere, Anthony Weiner is smiling.

*Uncle Bruce definition from Urban Dictionary - a closeted gay man who betrays his own people.

Look for Oligarchs Attack on Workers to Continue

During the 2010 midterms, several far-right U.S. Senate candidates said they either wanted to slash the minimum wage or eliminate it altogether. Each of these candidates, incidentally, lost. The Republicans’ hostility towards the minimum wage hasn’t gone away. Michele Bachmann, for example, has argued that eliminating the minimum wage would eliminate unemployment entirely. Bachmann conceded she’d consider eliminating the policy as president as part of her efforts to crush “expansion of government.”

Their cockamamy theory is that instead of a company paying 4 workers $10 per hour, it would be better to pay 8 workers $5 per hour or even better in the regressive party's mind, 16 workers making $2.50 per hour. I've been saying this for months. Their plan to lower unemployment is to abolish minimum wage. Then they can bring back the jobs they've farmed out to third world countres while making the United States one. If their goal is accomplished, non-union companies can start slashing wages of current employees who are making a fair wage and/or threaten their job security if they fight back with the ability of cheap labor. Do you think maybe this is the long term goal of all the union busting? Anyone who thinks it can't happen here isn't watching what this SCOTUS is doing.

Such a radical change would be unpopular, and the idea is so far from the American mainstream, there aren't any polls even asking the question. The problem is the current Teapublican Party doesn't care about what the American people want. They don't care if their position is unpopular. Look no further than Ayn Rand fan boy Paul Ryan's "bold and couragious" budget proposal. It screws future Medicare recipients and further slashes taxes for the wealthy while raising the debt! Teapublicans only care about their strict ideology

I wonder if others in the GOP field will go on the record supporting this as well? Or they'll just pull a Gov. Scott Walker (R-WI). Run on balancing the budget and then spend every waking moment destroying unions with the help of the billionaire Koch Brothers, or as I prefer, Koch-roaches. Meanwhile, the idiotic voters who elect these fascists because
"the gays are out to get them," are chanting, "U.S.A., U.S.A." like a bunch of indoctrinated zombies.

People need to put down their iPods and stop playing Warcraft and start paying attention to what the plutocrats are up too, damn it.

As Keith Olbermann Would Say, This Woman...Is An Idiot

“He who warned uh, the British that they weren’t gonna be takin’ away our arms, uh by ringing those bells, and um, makin’ sure as he’s riding his horse through town to send those warning shots and bells that we were going to be sure and we were going to be free, and we were going to be armed.”

For those who wonder what was wrong with this idiotic statement, I first ask if your school taught history, and then wonder did you go to school. Paul Revere’s historic ride occurred in 1775, the constitutional convention did not even convene until 1787. And "ringing those bells" and "warning shots"...really? Where the hell did she get that? Nevermind, it's Palinese, who knows. On the evening of April 18, 1775, Paul Revere was sent for by Dr. Joseph Warren and instructed to ride to Lexington, Massachusetts, to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock that British troops were marching to arrest them. Revere wasn’t ringing bells or firing shots into the air. He had to quietly deliver the message that the regulars were coming to arrest them. And he had the assistance of nearly 40 riders spreading the message of the movement of the British army, and preparing the patriots to fight.

The Real Story of Revere's Ride

As stupid as I think this woman is, and I really think she's stupid with a capital "S', what scares me even more are her followers. The dumber she is, the more they love her! Also, is it just me...and I doubt it is, her voice is in Edith Bunker territory to start with, but when she starts using voice influctions, don't you just want to stick screwdrivers through your ears? Seriously, when snowbilly grifter was talking about Paul Revere, all the dogs within 15 miles had their paws over their ears.

And a sidenote to Michele Bachmann who also spent some time in Concord, New Hampshire recently and proclaimed, "This is where the shots heard 'round the world were fired." Not so much. One of the reasons Paul Revere is famous today is also because of the battles of Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. He played an important role as he helped to organize an intelligence and alarm system that was designed to keep watch over the British forces and warn Americans of threats so that they could be prepared.

There's Not a President #46 in This Group

Here's some of the brilliance we witnessed this week from the right wing. These are the "stars" of the party. How can anyone in their "correct" mind vote for any of these narcissistic crackpots? While I still think they're going to roll out Jeb Bush when they get serious, this is the lot we've seen so far. I have some great friends who I adore, who think the country isn't dumb enough to vote for another Bush. They are such hopeful people --- always seeing the glass half full. Bless their hearts. They forget that we live in a country where people stand in front of a microwave oven screaming, "HURRY!" Me on the other hand? The glass fell over. You can never underestimate the stupidity of the American people.
Just sayin...

Newt for President!

Palin for President!

Bachmann for President!

GOP Pushing For IRS Abortion Audits - Seriously

The GOP war on women is getting worse everyday. We now have a bill, that could subject survivors of rape and incest to audits by the Internal Revenue Service, if they choose abortion. Here's how this attack on women would work. The bill, H.R.3, could forbid using tax benefits -- like credits or deductions -- to pay for abortion or health insurance that includes abortion coverage. If a woman who claimed a tax benefit for an abortion service were to be audited, she would have to provide proof that her abortion fell under the rape or incest exception. According to a tax expert, if this bill becomes law, the IRS would have to enforce it. NARAL Pro-Choice America says, "Not only would a woman have to describe her sexual assault to the police, but she could then be forced to relive that horrifying experience with an agent from the IRS." Even more outrageously, the burden of proof would be on the woman to show that her assault was valid. Keep your receipts ladies.

This nonsense gets more outrageous and insulting by the day. Why has a legal medical procedure become fodder in a country that is supposed to separate church and state? Why is there not an outcry across this nation by self-respecting women and progressive men? Are we really that Foxed up? Here's another idea to go hand-in-hand. Every man who uses Viagra or any other ED medication must submit a sample to be stored in a bank for identification. If it is determined that the sample was likely involved in an unintended pregnancy, he would have to prove that he used all precautions necessary to prevent that pregnancy. If he can not prove he used all necessary precautions, any and all tax refunds for the next 18 years go to Planned Parenthood. How does that sound guys?

I have to say, I'm extremely distressed that women like Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann who believe in subservience have become icons to many women in this country. They are taking us back to the Phyllis Schlafly time machine where women did what the male controlled society expected them to do. It's a very scary time for young women in this country. I just can't get my head around the notion of looking up to these women who think that looking good for the "men-folk" is good enough to get them by. Why are women like Hillary Clinton, Rachel Maddow, Nancy Pelosi and Debbie Wasserman Schultz mocked as less than ideal women? They are actual success stories! I remember when Palin first burst on the scene and watching how some guys were looking at her, talking about her; while they were picturing her as the "dirty librarian who's going to give him a spanking." Meanwhile, conservative women bought the great mom/successful career woman spiel, never mind that her teenage daughter got knocked up under her own roof. These people vote! They couldn't care less that their so-called attractive (very subjective) female and just-like-me (maybe as stupid, not wealth) candidates can't tell the difference between North and South Korea or New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The men care about watching them on the TV machine and fantasizing about what they would do to them if they got them alone and the women think about having coffee and discussing the kids.

Senator Gillibrand (D-NY) Continues To Impress

When former NY Governor David Paterson appointed Kirsten Gillibrand to Hillary Clinton's vacated senate seat when Mrs. Clinton became Secretary of State; I was pretty worried. Rumors reported Gillibrand to be a gun lovin' DINO that liberals would despise. They were wrong. Despite her NRA support, she has actually proven to be more liberal than her predecessor in that seat. She not only not supports a woman's right to choose, she supports same-sex marriage, something Clinton did not. I'm providing a link below where you can check her positions on any topic. In this video, Senator Gillibrand urges women to get involved because decisions are made every day that affect them, yet only 17% of the members of Congress are women. And let's not kid ourselves, many of them are right wing kooks, like Michele Bachmann and Virginia Foxx who gleefully send womens rights backwards to appeal to their far right, white male base. Since Gillibrand won her re-election fairly easily last November, I hope she's on the way to a long successful careeer in the Senate. Imagine her or Barbara Boxer as Senate leader instead of Harry Reid.
A girl can dream...

Is Bachmann Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

OH...MY...GOD! Does the GOP really think Michele Bachmann is a credible candidate? Really, do they? A few weeks ago she mentioned how our slave owning founders worked tirelessly to end slavery (they were dead for decades before it happened), but get this --- Today she told NH 'baggers that New Hampshire is the state where "the shot was heard around the world." and the where Pilgrims landed - Plymouth Rock!
“What I love about New Hampshire and what we have in common is our extreme love for liberty,” the potential GOP presidential candidate said. “You’re the state where the shot was heard around the world in Lexington and Concord. And you put a marker in the ground and paid with the blood of your ancestors the very first price that had to be paid to make this the most magnificent nation that has ever arisen in the annals of man in 5,000 years of recorded history.” [...]

“I’m thankful that you are the first in the nation state because you are the liberty state,” Bachmann said. “That is your charge. You keep that baton of liberty. You’ve done it very well for almost 20 generations from the time the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock, and I’m sure the very first one came up to New Hampshire and said, ‘This is where I want to be.’”
More from: Think Progress

Hey Michele, I know all those teeny weeny itsy bitsy little states in New England seem the same to you, but uh .. it was MASSACHUSETTS where those things happened. There's 13 miles of coastline in New Hampshire. Are you and Sarah Palin sharing a map? When that idiot visited NH, she said it was great to be in the "Great Northwest." Palin in NH
These are the women the Republican Party looks to as intelligent leaders. Yikes!

The View From The Deck - Week Ending 4/25/10

Thanks to our current SCOTUS, cruelty to animals is now protected by law!  It's not bad enough that they forced property owners to sell their homes to developers (who haven't by the way), or stopped the 2000 recount in Bush vs. Gore that likely would've found that Al Gore won.  Now they've decided that the Constitution protects animal abusers who torture dogs and record their violence for sale as videos because a law Congress passed in 1999 against animal cruelty was written too vaguely, and could have been used to outlaw hunting videos.  Really?  It's been effect for 11 years and all of a sudden there's a danger to hunting videos?  It was an eight to one decision, and the lone hold-out surprised me, it was Sam Alito.  Rebutting the majority's view that the law was too broad, Alito argued it could still be used to stop crush videos, which apparently appeal to some people's sexual fetish by showing women in stiletto heels crushing kittens to death.  Once again, animals being maimed and tortured will be widely available for the sick bastards that enjoy watching this stuff.  The fact that nasty horrible people can harm animals is despicable enough, but the fact that there's actually a market for this trash is nauseating.  I've read every article I could find about this decision and I still don't understand how this falls under "free speech."  It appears that common sense has been replaced by some poorly written part of the Constitution regarding free speech. There's a big difference between allowing abuse of animals, children or people on videos and "free speech."

General Motors Co. has repaid $8.1 billion in loans it got from the U.S. and Canadian governments, a move CEO Edward Whitacre Jr.  says is a sign automaker is on the road to recovery.  But during bankruptcy, the U.S. government reduced the loan portion to $6.7 billion and converted the rest to company stock, while the Canadian governments held $1.4 billion in loans. Those loans were repaid Tuesday, five years ahead of schedule.  GM hopes to repay the remaining $45.3 billion to the U.S. government and $8.1 billion to Canada via a public stock offering, maybe later this year. The U.S. government now owns 61 percent of the company and Canada owns roughly 12 percent.  I'd like to add that the quality of U.S. vehicles go a vote of confidence in a new poll. An Associated Press-GfK survey finds that slightly more Americans now say the U.S. makes better-quality vehicles than Asia, with 38 percent saying U.S. cars are best and 33 percent preferring autos made by Asian companies.  No matter how anyone feels about American made cars, the fact of the matter is, this "loan" saved a ridiculous amount of jobs and kept people off the unemployment ledger.  I don't understand how the very same people that said "let them die," are concerned about the new HCR bill costing jobs!  The right wing has absolutely no consistency with their rants.  Do they even realize what they're saying is, "screw the blue collar worker, but make sure the health care industry is still able to continue ripping us off at their will."

The Florida Republican Party on Thursday invoked a "Party Loyalty Oath" forbidding its members from supporting Gov. Charlie Crist if he decides to run as an independent in the state's Senate race.  While it's not unheard of for a political party to require its leaders to support its candidates, the use of the specific phrase "loyalty oath" is a bit creepy and suggests that the Republicants haven't moved past the McCarthyite mindset of the 1950s. I would also point out that the Democratic Party did not pull this kind of a stunt when Joe Lieberman switched in 2006. The next time someone tries to call the Democrats the party of tyranny, just remind them of this.

You know that famous slogan that the Teabaggers have tried to make their own since the black guy won?  You know, the one Michele Bachmann and the gun nuts like to use for their own benefit?  Who knew that the famous "Don't Tread on Me" slogan would no longer be applicable in Arizona?!  On Friday, Rethuglican governor Jan Brewer signed a bill that allows Arizona cops to stop and demand documentation from anyone they suspect to be an illegal immigrant. It makes it a crime to not carry papers documenting your citizenship or your immigration status so if you don't have papers on you, handcuffs will be. I'm pretty sure they won't be on the lookout for Canadians.  We all concede there's an immigration problem, but let's not pretend this isn't racial profiling either.  This is a very slippery slope and I don't see how this is going to end well.

At one of the gun nuts rallies on Monday, April 19 (the 15 year anniversary of Oklahoma City), one whackjob claimed that their rally was actually a love fest, continuing, "OK. Now, there‘s a certain reporter made comments, Rachel Maddow—and I have to say to her: it‘s a good thing that this is a lovefest, otherwise we‘d tar and feather you."  Huh?  I have to assume it's because she narrated the documentary questioning whether the anti-government movement of today could end up with a Tim Mcveigh outcome.  How can these people not see the danger of the over-the-top rhetoric that is not only coming from them, but from right wing politicians basically giving them the green light for violence against the government?  I knew there would be a certain element of this country that would be upset over Obama's election, but I never thought it would get this ugly.

I'll close with a sports news item.  If arrangements go as planned, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will run the #3 Wrangler Chevrolet for JR Motorsports at Daytona International Speedway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series race on July 2. Sources have told FOXSports.com that Earnhardt will revive his father's famous #3 in a collaborative effort initiated by JR Motorsports with Richard Childress Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc. A formal announcement is expected on April 29. According to team sources, a Hendrick Motorsports engine will power the car. Earnhardt Jr. currently has a personal services contract with Wrangler, continuing a family legacy between the brands. Wrangler first sponsored his father for the final race of his 1980 Cup championship season and the following year with Rod Osterlund for the first 16 races. This is big news for anyone that was a fan of "The Intimidater" because there has not been a #3 on the track in a Nascar event since February 18, 2001.

Bachmann-Palin Overdrive 2010 Tour

Takin' Care of Business Redux 2010 (by Captain - Portside Politics)

You get up every morning
From your alarm clock's warning
Wake at 6:15 with some pity
Look for big brother above
Sarah pushin', Michele shovin'
Two mean girls who try to look pretty

And if their brain's were fine
You could put aside the whine
And start your slaving job to get your pay
If you ever get annoyed
Remember Fox keeps them employed
They love to watch you work for nothing all day

And they'll be...
Making stupid comments every day
Making hateful comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!

If it were easy as bitchin'
You could be a politician
If you could make sounds loud or hollow
Get a fancy foreign car
Chances are you'll go far
If you get in with the right bunch of sellouts

If they see you having fun
Just a-lying in the sun
They'll assume it's the socialist way
It's reality that they avoid
They're just a couple hemmoroids
They prefer to watch you work for nothing all day

And they'll be...
Making hateful comments every day
Making lying comments every way
They'll been making careless statements feeling fine
Making sure any business can make you work overtime
Work more!

(Spoken) Making hateful comments
When their awake, every day whoo!

The Week in Right Wing World - 3/29-4/4

What did we find out this past week, you might ask?

Michael Steele's RNC spent nearly two grand at a sex-themed Los Angeles nightclub. They also spent $982 of its donors' money on "office supplies" from the Boyden Valley Winery last December. Between December and February, the RNC bought over $700 worth of so-called "office supplies" from Congressional Liquors, a booze and sandwich shop on Washington, D.C.'s Capitol Hill. In December, the RNC reimbursed RNC Deputy Finance Director Debbie LeHardy for $453 worth of "meals" from Henri Bendel, a posh boutique on New York's Fifth Avenue. Bendel's is an upscale source for costume jewelery, handbags and make-up. The store bills itself as a "Girls' Playground for trendsetting young women from around the world." She also received reimbursement for $282 spent at Boca Grande Outfitters, which bills itself as "the area's most complete saltwater fly fishing and light tackle outfitter." The report designates the reimbursement for "meals." Aaron Sutcliffe, a clerk at BGO, said the store doesn't sell food. The RNC also sent out a mailer that included a phone number directing callers to a phone sex line! Man, these right wingers know how to spend other people's money...what is it they say about Democrats again?!

Florida urologist Jack Cassell posted a sign on his office door reading, "If you voted for Obama ... seek urologic care elsewhere. Changes to your health care begin right now, not in four years." This prompted Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) to say, "Maybe he thinks the Hippocratic Oath says, 'Do no good', adding "If this is the face of the right wing in America, it's the face of cruelty. ... Why don't they change the name of the Republican Party to the Sore Loser Party?"

Bat-shit crazy Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) appeared on Hannity's show accusing Speaker Nancy Pelosi this week of trying to "incite something" by choosing to walk through a Tea Party rally being held outside the U.S. Capitol on the day health care reform passed last month. Seriously? If Pelosi and the other Democrats had come in through the "back door" or wherever Bachmann thinks they should've walked, the story would've been that they were ashamed to walk through the protesters. She also denied that protesters hurled racial slurs or spit on a congressman during the demonstration, adding that the Tea Party is being unjustly smeared by the media and Democrats. Here's the best one! She said, "The media wants you to believe that Tea Party Patriots are toothless hillbillies...This is a very sophisticated crowd." Now that's funny! Why is it that no one on the 'right' is capable of using google or youtube for the proof that anyone not glued to Fox has already seen? I despise Republicans a little more with each passing day.

Sarah Palin's "Real American Stories" debuted on Fox Thursday to a rather lackluster viewership. It generated a fair share of controversy after both LL Cool J and Toby Keith — who were billed among the special's celebrity guests — cried foul and claimed the network was reusing old footage for the Palin special. The show was down 28% from gal pal Greta's previous Thursday night audience. TVNewser also notes, based on quarter-hour viewing data, that the special lost viewers from start to finish. The final 15 minutes were down 18% in total viewers and 22% in A25-54 viewers compared to the first 15 minutes. Finally, it appears the more people are seeing of her, the less they want to see...even from the Republican channel!

Thursday Thoughts - 3/11/10

Some headlines from today that I thought I'd Quick Comment on:

Dumb and Dumber: Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann team up for fundraiser. One will be talking about 're-education camps' and the other needs to enroll in one.

House Votes For Ethics Committee To Re-Open Eric Massa Investigation: Yes by all means investigate this nutball, but don't worry about George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's illegalities. What a country! One clown groped a bunch of men and resigned. The other two groped our country leading to 4300 dead Americans and 30,000 wounded. Where the hell has our common sense gone?!

House Dems Will Forge Ahead Without Stupak Language: It's about time! This anti-choice amendment should've never gotten this far. The Hyde Amendment of 1977 is in place restricting federal money for abortion excepting rape, incest or a woman's life.  Stupak's language actually goes further than current law which is why there's such an uprising amongst pro-choicers. This is about stopping women from being able to pay for insurance that covers abortion at all...even when women have paid for their own insurance with their own money. If "Insurer A" gets federal dollars and "Woman A" has a policy with them, she will not get covered because of that! This is another backhanded restriction on women's reproductive rights. I don't want my tax dollars going to Viagra either Bart, what do you think about that?!

If Obama Supports Public Option, It Could Pass Senate:  I'm very sure this is true.  This is the thing that bothers me.  Why has Obama taken every chance he's gotten to say that the public option is not essential to health care reform yet he backs the mandate? I'm very worried about whatever kind of backroom deal may have been worked out with insurance companies. Keeping my fingers crossed that the bill we get helps the uninsured, not the insurers.  Not feeling great at this time although Wendell Scott says this is a start.

God Helps With Personal Decisions, Most Americans Say: Say what? The confusion for me in such statements is that most religious people claim to believe in personal responsibility. So why wouldn't they want to take personal responsibility for their own decisions? Oh that's right, when they do something wrong, they use the "devil made me do it!" Idiots.

Finally, let's hope for full recoveries for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's wife and daughter. They were hospitalized today – after their minivan was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer truck on an interstate highway in suburban Virginia. Reid's wife, Landra, 69 has a broken back and neck and their daughter, Lana Barringer, 49 has a neck injury and facial lacerations.

I really hope some fright-wingnut doesn't say something stupid about this being some kind of karma for Reid's support of HCR. How bad is it, that I feel confidant that one of those losers, whether it's Limbaugh or Beck will go there?
